Restaurant will destroy state park’s integrity

November 15, 2022

I'm requesting that the plan to build a beachfront restaurant in Cape Henlopen State Park be denied due to the harmful effect it will wreak on the wildlife and integrity of the natural ecosystem of this treasured state park. During the summer season, the parking lots are full by 11 a.m. Adding a beachfront restaurant in the park will only prevent families from enjoying the beach, beautiful bike/hike/walking trails and the Fort Miles museum. There are ample restaurants throughout the Sussex County area; bulldozing trees and sand dunes is obscene! Let's protect this beautiful resource and prevent additional traffic, noise, paved parking lots and light pollution that will destroy the natural integrity of this amazing state park. Don't pollute the park; it's home to the critical Atlantic bird migration flyway and supports wildlife that have no other home.
