Cape volleyball hosts five teams for scrimmage

March 15, 2023

The Cape Henlopen boys’ volleyball squad held a six-team play day March 10. The Vikings competed with Delmarva Christian, Salesianum, Indian River, Smyrna and Sussex Academy in 35-minute game-situation scrimmages.

“I was really happy with how tonight went,” said Cape coach Tyler Coupe. “We brought about 15 guys [for] our five matches and we ran different lineups each time to see what boys could do what. We had moments where we looked like a strong, complete team and [other] times we were plagued by some unforced errors. The timing of it is great for us; we have another week before our first match, and [there’s] a lot to work on.”

The Vikings will open their regular season Monday, March 20, at home with Smyrna. Sussex Academy opens March 20 at Caesar Rodney. Indian River opens March 20 at MOT Charter. Delmarva Christian opens March 20 at Odessa High School.
