Dances galore at Women’s Fest April 27-30

April 9, 2023

For women who enjoy kicking up their heels, there will be no shortage of opportunities at this year’s Women’s Fest, slated for Thursday to Sunday, April 27 to 30.

Music and dance have always been a big part of the largest and best event for women in the Mid-Atlantic region. The festival draws thousands of women to Rehoboth Beach for four days of sports, entertainment, activities and camaraderie.

Many events are included in the fest pass, but some require separate tickets. For more information, go to camprehoboth.com/womensFest.

The fun begins at 7 p.m., Thursday, with the traditional Georgette Krenkel Welcome Dance at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.

A singles tea dance hosted by I Am Me Inc. will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, at Aqua Grill. Although all are welcome, this dance will provide singles with extra mingling time. Women’s Fest offers singles a welcoming space for making connections and forming new relationships.

The don’t-miss centerpiece of Women’s Fest, Saturday night’s premier dance will groove to the beat of GirlsRoom, a local all-female rock ‘n’ roll band, and DJ Peggy Castle. GirlsRoom consists of drummer Jill Brady, formerly of The Girlfriends, vocalist Barbara Phillips, bassist Terri Brady, and guitarists Lois McDuffee, Glenda Diem and Kathy Nace-Jones, who is returning just for this event. This event is included in the fest pass, and individual tickets are also available. Between the band’s rocking sounds and Castle’s brilliant song picks, everyone will be up and out on the floor.

The last opportunity to dance will be when Mama’s Black Sheep plays at the closing party from 12 to 3 p.m., Sunday, at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats. The hugely popular local band covers all the bases from country to soul and pop to blues. An additional treat at this event will be Women’s Fest favorite Christine Havrilla.
