Georgetown area will see lots of orange

DelDOT contractor starts $5.5 million paving project in and around county seat

If you live or drive in the Georgetown area, be prepared to see lots of orange cones, barrels and barricades this year as Delaware Department of Transportation contractor Allen Myers Inc. will do nearly $5.5 million worth of paving and curbing work.

Here is a list of the planned projects:

• North Bedford Street from Bridgeville Road to Route 113: ADA curb ramps; concrete patching of existing pavement; milling, 2-inch pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings

• Bridgeville Road/North Bedford Street from Route 113 to Market Street at the Circle: ADA curb ramps; drainage inlets and manhole repairs; concrete patching of existing pavement; milling, 2-inch pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings

• East Market Street from the Circle and Bedford Street to west of Airport Road: ADA curb ramps; drainage inlets and manhole repairs; concrete patching of existing pavement; milling, 2-inch asphalt pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings

• The Circle: ADA curb ramps; replace existing concrete curb for perimeter of the Circle; drainage inlets and manhole repairs; concrete patching of existing pavement; milling, 2-inch asphalt pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings

• West Market Street from Route 113 to Bedford Street at the Circle: ADA curb ramps; drainage inlets and manhole repairs; concrete patching of existing pavement; milling, 2-inch asphalt pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings

• Airport Road from Carver Street to Sussex Academy entrance: milling; 2-inch asphalt pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings.

• South Bedford Street from Route 113 to Market Street at the Circle: ADA curb ramps; drainage inlets and manhole repairs; concrete patching of existing pavement; milling, 2-inch asphalt pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings

• Gov. Stockley Road from Route 113 to Zoar Road: widening of existing road from 18 feet to 22 feet; 2-inch asphalt pavement overlay; and traffic striping and markings.
