Spring greyhounds arrive in Dewey

Vendor D&J Glass Designs set up shop in the Atlantic Oceanside to sell stained glass creations to greyhound enthusiasts. July Hildebrand of Toledo, Ohio, who makes the art, said this is her first year at Spring Dewey. "I've sold a couple of pieces, so I'm thrilled," she said. BY KARA NUZBACK

The eighth annual Spring Dewey event for greyhounds and their owners was held at Atlantic Oceanside Motel April 13-15, featuring sunrise and sunset beach walks, an ice cream social, greyhound contests and games and a silent auction.
Vendors set up shop in the rooms at Atlantic Oceanside, including the GreytHounds of Eastern Michigan Store. Shown are Bill and Kelly Hartman, who took their dogs for a swim in the ocean before taking them shopping. "It's fun," Kelly Hartman said. "They like it."
Merrie West, of GreytHounds of Eastern Michigan Store, said she has been representing the store at Spring Dewey since the event began. "It's been wonderful," West said.
