RES students celebrate their reading accomplishments

Fifty-five students and two teachers from Rehoboth Elementary School “Met the Monster” at Dover International Speedway May 19, to celebrate achieving a school-wide reading goal.

Following a visit to the only Monster Bridge in the country and a special introduction to “Miles,” the Monster Mascot, the students walked the track’s nine-degree straightaways and 24-degree banks, toured a race car, had lunch in the media center and took part in an awards ceremony at Victory Lane.

The students participated in the Accelerated Reading program at their school, reading books and taking online assessment tests that kept track of the number of words they read, as well as their comprehension of the books.
