Is there a cost-effective solution to Kings Highway?

February 27, 2024

I'm sitting here reading about the proposed roadway project for Kings Highway. Let's see, $28 million (preliminary projection), but actual/true costs will likely be upwards of $35 million at the end of the day for a mile-and-a-half roadway improvement project that will not be completed for eight years. With five roundabouts, the speed limit will likely be 20 to 25 mph, which is not a bad thing. If someone is in a hurry, avoid the road. By 2032, the entire project could be obsolete anyway with all the runaway development.

Road improvements are needed, especially with the rubber stamping by officials of every new development in the area.

Is there an alternative proposal/solution that is more cost effective? Let's think about it: $28 million to $35 million for a mile-and-a-half. That comes to more than $4,000 a foot. Crazy numbers, huh?
