Area residents gathered March 16, for a free Sussex County Health and Wellness Fair hosted by the Behavioral Health Consortium and its chair, Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown. With an array of health-focused activities, informative sessions and interactive booths, the fair served as a hub for promoting well-being and fostering community engagement.
“As a nurse and a Sussex Countian, born and raised here, I am thrilled when I have the opportunity to bring together a group of resources for both physical health and mental health,” said Hall-Long. “Today is an opportunity to come out and get the resources that are necessary, and to give back if people want to donate blood.”
One of the highlights of the fair was the diverse range of health screenings and services offered on-site, including blood pressure checks, HIV checks and blood donations. In addition to screenings, the fair featured interactive workshops and presentations on topics such as nutrition, mental health awareness and fitness.
The fair also facilitated networking opportunities for attendees to connect with local healthcare providers, community organizations and support groups. Representatives from various healthcare facilities were on hand to address questions, provide guidance, and offer information about available services and programs.
