General surgeon David Nehring joins Beebe medical staff
Beebe Healthcare recently welcomed David R. Nehring, MD, to its medical staff.
Nehring is a general surgeon who cares for patients diagnosed with a diverse range of medical conditions requiring surgical intervention, with the most common being hernia repairs and colon resections. He also provides general surgical services for patients of all ages who present in the emergency department, demonstrating acute onset of appendicitis, gallbladder attacks and hernias. Nehring has a specific interest in minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, and he applies these techniques and technologies often in the operating room.
“Beebe has a small community feel, but with incredible resources designed to provide high-quality care,” said Nehring. “I am proud to join this team, and to work for a healthcare system where I can have a voice in helping build and expand services to meet the needs of people who live in Sussex County and across the state of Delaware.”
Nehring is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. He completed his general surgery residency at Akron City Hospital, part of the Summa Health System, in Akron, Ohio, where he was ultimately awarded the William H. Falor Research Award for Outstanding Resident Research and Presentation. He has served as a guest lecturer and volunteer educator at both organizations. Nehring is a member of the American College of Surgeons.
Outside of work, Nehring likes to hike, swim, and run – a new passion that was born during the COVID pandemic, when he pursued a Couch-to-5K training plan and race. He has been running ever since. Nehring also enjoys spending time at the pool with his wife and daughter.
