Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding barn dance set Oct. 19

September 22, 2024

Southern Delaware Therapeutic Riding will hold its eighth annual barn dance from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, in its main stable arena at 17170 Harbeson Road, Milton.

A major fundraiser, the barn dance supports SDTR’s mission of service through its family of therapy horses, local riders, certified instructors and passionate volunteers. “The SDTR barn dance fundraiser is critical in helping provide financial support for our therapeutic riding program and scholarships for those who would otherwise be unable to benefit from our unique services,” said Jo Allegro-Smith, executive director. “SDTR has a specialized mission in service to Sussex County. The annual barn dance is a critical cornerstone event in our ability to provide equine-assisted therapy to serve the unmet needs of participants who have a variety of physical or developmental disabilities.”

This year’s festivities will once again include line dancing to live music by the Mason Dixon Band, a mouthwatering barbecue dinner, bourbon tasting station and live auction.

Since 1988, SDTR has relied on sponsorships, donations and fundraisers to enrich the lives of local children and adults with special needs, one stride at a time.
