Zane Coulbourne
This Cape grad will fasten his chinstrap one more time as a high school football player when he represents the Vikings in Friday night’s annual DFRC Blue-Gold All-Star Game at the University of Delaware's Tubby Raymond Stadium. Zane played a big role in the Cape team's success this season, making 119 tackles (third in the state) and forcing four fumbles from his linebacker position. But at the all-star game, he will be utilized on offense as a tight end for the Gold team. “Learning a new position in such a short time is tough, but Zane is doing great and will be a big asset for the Gold squad," said assistant coach Mike Tkach. "He's a great player and a really nice kid." Zane will be playing middle linebacker for the Albright College Lions in Reading, Pa., in the fall.
Carson Gesuero
Carson was the lone senior on a record-setting Sussex Academy softball team that shocked the state when it rolled through the playoffs to reach the final four. As a pitcher, the Sussex Academy grad is stoic and calm, with nothing seeming to faze her. On the base paths or in the dugout, she is a ball of energy doing whatever she can to support her team. Carson represented the Seahawks at the Blue-Gold all-star game June 12. The future Blue Hen flashed her speed by competing in the relay race before the game, then showed her poise in the circle for the winning Blue team. Her Sussex Academy teammates relied on her for leadership during their magical run and bought into the confidence she exuded, which stemmed from the work she and the other Seahawks put in to capitalize on their opportunity to notch their names in the record books.
Alivia Heers
Alivia participated in the Blue-Gold softball home run derby contest and started at catcher for the Gold squad in the senior all-star game. With the final swing of her Delaware high school softball tenure, the future St. Joe's player wrapped up an illustrious career with a bang. Her two teammates Hayden Hudson and Ava Calciano homered before her to make her the third Viking to launch one in the contest. Alivia’s true position is catcher, where she was named first-team all-state. She has played all over the diamond with a smile on her face, and her power has remained steady. Heers' 107 RBIs is a school record, having 36 in 2025 and never fewer than 20 in a season. She started and finished her career with eight home runs, sandwiching two five-bomb seasons in between, raising the school record to 26.
Hayden Hudson
Hayden suited up for the Gold team in the softball version of the Blue-Gold senior all-star game. Although Gold lost the game, Hayden made her last swing unforgettable, launching one over the fence during the ill-fated comeback. Her dad, Chuck, was waiting in the dugout to congratulate her. Hayden travels across the country to compete in national tournaments, suiting up for the Intensity 18U KOD team out of New Jersey. She led her team with 33 hits and smashed seven home runs this year, finishing her career with 10, while driving in 28 runs in 2025, for a career total of 58. Those numbers earned her second-team all-state and first-team all-conference. Hayden will suit up for Catholic University in Washington, D.C., next spring, where she is enrolled in the honors engineering/ sports analytics programs.
