DART Beach Bus has record week
The DART Beach Bus had a record one-week ridership total between June 29 and July 5, as 23,497 passengers used the alternative mode of transportation in the Cape Region.
According to Delaware Department of Transportation Director Community Relations Charles “CR” McLeod, the previous record was set during the Fourth of July week in 2024 when 22,211 people rode the Beach Bus.
In addition, McLeod said, more than 7,000 passengers rode the Route 201 bus to and from the Rehoboth Boardwalk for fireworks July 5.
Through the first seven weeks of Beach Bus service, McLeod said, more than 101,000 passenger trips have been recorded. He said the Beach Bus is on pace to have the highest year for ridership of the service, which first began in 1989.
The cost to ride the bus is a $2 per trip, $4 for a daily pass, $16 for a seven-consecutive day pass or $60 for a 30-consecutive day pass.
