Millsboro teens charged in smoke shop, pawn shop burglaries
Four Millsboro teens, ages 16 to 18, face weapon and theft charges in connection with two burglaries over the past month.
Ocean View Police and Delaware State Police both responded at 1 a.m., July 24, to Marley’s Smoke Shop at 35831 Atlantic Ave. and learned four masked people wearing gloves forcibly entered through the front door. Once inside, police said, the suspects ransacked the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise. They then fled the scene in a Hyundai Tucson and a Kia Sportage, both reported stolen by the Millsboro Police Department.
The same day, police said, troopers responded about 3 a.m. to Harrington Pawn at 17750 S. Dupont Hwy. in Harrington for a report of an attempted burglary. When troopers arrived, police said, they discovered that four unidentified suspects, all wearing gloves and concealing their faces, tried to forcibly enter the business but were unsuccessful. Police said they later learned that one of the suspects was in possession of an AR-style rifle during the two incidents.
Ocean City police located the stolen Tucson July 24 on North Baltimore Avenue, and the next day the Sportage was located at Parson’s Farm Produce on Armory Road in Dagsboro, severely damaged by fire.
Police obtained warrants for four teens. A 16-year-old boy was arrested July 26. Tramez Bundick, 18, was arrested July 28. Jayden Hack, 18, was arrested July 31. A 17-year-old boy was arrested Aug. 1.
All were taken to Troop 4 and charged with two counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited – adjudicated delinquent; second-degree burglary – enter/remain in building armed with explosives or a deadly weapon; third-degree attempted burglary; two counts wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony; theft $1,500 or greater; two counts receiving stolen property over $1,500; criminal mischief $5,000 or more; two counts second-degree conspiracy; criminal mischief over $1,000 – recklessly damage property; criminal mischief $1,000 but less than $5,000 – intentionally damage property; and third-degree criminal trespass.
Additionally, Hack was charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle; and the 16-year-old with possession of a firearm by a person under 21.
Bundick and Hack were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2. committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of cash bond – Bundick on $169,050, and Hack on $73,001.
The 16-year-old was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center in default of $29,251 secured bond.
The 17-year-old was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center in default of $33,525 secured bond.
