Community groups present scholarships to Beebe nursing students

September 2, 2025

Many local organizations and groups have committed to supporting the Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing at Beebe Healthcare as it trains the next generation of nursing professionals who will serve Sussex County.

That commitment is demonstrated in many ways, including presentation of awards and scholarships for nursing students pursuing their education at Beebe.

Awardees recently honored include Lewes-Rehoboth Beach Rotary Club Moore-Eschenbach-Gallery Scholarship recipients Noelle Benson of Lewes, Olivia Creamer of Greenwood and Yana Quel of Rehoboth Beach. These scholarships are presented to recognize the top three academically ranked students who have completed their first year of nursing school.

The awards were founded in memory of Rotarians Ed Moore, Sam Eschenbach and Dr. William Gallery. Funding for the scholarships is generated through a series of projects held during the year, including the club’s Flags for Heroes Veterans Day presentation at Cape Henlopen High School and publication of its Great Walks and Trails in Sussex County guidebook.

Lewes Senior Activity Center’s inaugural Seniors Helping Seniors Scholarships are presented to Sussex County residents who plan to seek employment at Beebe Healthcare following graduation. The senior center, which provides social, recreational, educational, cultural and health-related programs for active aging adults, facilitates a number of fundraising activities throughout the year to generate scholarship dollars. Recipients are Olivia Creamer from Greenwood and Jocelyn Holden from Millsboro.

The Lord Baltimore Lions Club of Ocean View nursing scholarships are presented to senior students residing in Sussex County who need financial support and have demonstrated a caring and professional attitude. Recipients are selected by first-year faculty members. This year’s winners are Jamesia Alphonse of Delmar and Lillie Golub of Millsboro.
