Michael J. Quinn, kind, generous soul

September 29, 2025

Michael J. Quinn, 66, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael was the sixth of seven children born to the late Thomas and Helen Quinn.

Born and raised in Wilmington, he later relocated to Sussex County. Michael was a kind and generous soul and was loved by all who met him. Michael loved rooting for the Phillies and Eagles, and was looking forward to more championships this year. A perfect start to his day was a cup of coffee and the News Journal. Michael had a dry but pointed sense of humor; some of his last words were “I guess I’m just gonna take a long nap.” Michael faced many challenges in his life with gracious determination. He was an example of kindness and strength to all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his five siblings, two brothers, Thomas (Kathleen) and Kevin (Kelley); and his three sisters, Karen Stunson (Keith), Regina and Patricia Ford (Charles). Michael is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews. Michael was predeceased by his brother, Sean, who passed in 2011.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Delaware Mentor, 28417 DuPont Blvd., Millsboro, DE 19966, or Tunnell Cancer Center, c/o Beebe Medical Foundation, 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
