Milton Theatre begins work on addition

Expansion project eyed for late-summer 2026 completion
October 11, 2025

Early work has begun on Milton Theatre’s planned 2,850-square-foot addition that will house the theater’s new education wing.

Marketing Director J.P. Lacap said initial demolition and infrastructure prep has started, with the old chimney being removed and the back rooftop deck demolished. Lacap said there are no definite plans to do anything with the bricks at this time.

Major construction is set to get started within the next 45 days; Lacap said the theater is hoping to finish the project by late summer of 2026.

The education wing will contain new rehearsal spaces, green rooms and offices, as well as new bathrooms. The $3 million addition is Phase 2 of a large renovation project to the more than 100-year-old theater, with Phase 1 being the balcony restoration finished in 2023.

The theater had to get multiple approvals from the town before moving forward, including site-plan approval for the project by the Milton Planning and Zoning Commission, approval by the Milton Historic Preservation Committee, a variance from the board of adjustment and two waivers by town council from the town’s sidewalk regulations.
