Mature pecan trees like the one at Route 16 and Union Street in Milton have deep roots and a large canopy, just like the people who have lived in Milton their entire lives. Our identity at this intersection is that big, beautiful tree. This tree is a living link to our town’s past and future. It makes me so very sad to think that it would be uprooted for a Royal Farms. I am writing to urge the developers and the town to step up and save this 100-year-old Northern Pecan tree. Just like we try to preserve the historical homes in Milton, we should collectively do all we can to save this historic tree. Saving the tree sends a message that our community cares about our natural heritage.
Please save our tree!
