Elementary students create pocket flags for military personnel
Members of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 recently faciliated a project at Lewes Elementary School for students to create pocket flags for military personnel who will soon be deployed.
The students received a patriotic salute from the Cape Henlopen High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps.
Cadets presented the colors and demonstrated the proper way to fold the American flag. They also shared insights about their experiences in the JROTC program, explaining what inspired their interest in the military, the roles they play within the program, and their future goals.
With the support of dedicated teachers, each student wrote a heartfelt message to include with the flags they made, offering words of gratitude and encouragement to those serving the country.
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 remains committed to promoting patriotic education and fostering respect for the nation’s history among young learners.
