Lewes council holds workshop Nov. 19

Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a workshop and special meeting at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, at city hall.

The panel will discuss and possibly take action on a proposed ordinance that would update the home-based business section of city code by creating three tiers of home occupations based on potential impact.

Lewes planners to meet Nov. 19

The Lewes Planning Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Rollins Center.

The agenda includes discussion and possible recommendations to council regarding the residency requirement for property owners with accessory dwelling units.

Lewes to hold nonprofit roundtable

Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a nonprofit roundtable at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, at the Rollins Center.

African American group to meet

The Lewes African American Heritage Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, at city hall.

The agenda includes discussion on the commission’s participation in upcoming events, including the Dec. 6 holiday parade, the May 2026 Happy Day Club event and planning for the 2026 Juneteenth celebration.

Dewey Town Council to meet Nov. 21

Dewey Beach Town Council will meet at 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at the town lifesaving station.

Members will discuss and possibly vote on recommendations from the charter and code review committee to establish new threshold building permit requirements for maintenance projects, provisions for their enforcement and penalties for noncompliance.

They will also discuss possible amendments to town code to adjust the beach assessment tax rate following the Sussex County property tax reassessment.

Rehoboth Beach sets meeting Nov. 21

Rehoboth Beach commissioners will meet at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave.

The agenda calls for consideration of an ordinance establishing a schedule of fees, a new fireworks contract for 2026, and resolutions setting public hearings related to the proposed rezoning of 60 Sussex St.

Italian American Heritage Club supports local causes

The Italian American Heritage Club recently held a successful dinner and silent auction fundraiser at Mulligan’s Pointe, with proceeds to benefit student scholarships and local nonprofit organizations in Sussex County. Members are grateful to community sponsors and guests for their support. The club welcomes new members wishing to celebrate their shared Italian heritage and Italian-American culture of food, wine, history and games.
