Man charged after ramming car, damaging police vehicle
A man faces charges after police say he rammed the back of a car near Milton Nov. 28, and then damaged a patrol car after he was arrested.
Police responded at 11:19 a.m. to the area of Bay Avenue for a domestic disturbance. They learned Shannon Hilton, 44, had rammed the car of the woman whose daughter had a no-contact court order against Hilton as the mother was trying to leave. Hilton continued driving westbound on Route 16 when he was stopped by Milton police.
Hilton was arrested and secured in the back seat of the police vehicle, but he tried to break out of the vehicle by kicking the window and door, police said. Hilton was taken to the Milton Police Department for further processing, where a computer check revealed an active warrant from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office. Hilton was charged with aggravated menacing, breach of release, criminal mischief under $1,000, criminal mischief over $1,000, fugitive from another state, leaving the scene of a property collision accident and driving while suspended or revoked. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $4,000 cash bond, pending extradition to Maryland.
