Coastal Concerts seeks historic Lewes photos by March 1

Artifacts and stories to be featured in June 16 event
December 20, 2025

Coastal Concerts is looking for historic photos and stories to use for its Lewes 250 concert set for Tuesday, June 16, in Stango Park, 101 Adams Ave., Lewes.

Hosted in collaboration with the City of Lewes, Coastal Concerts’ jazz event will feature Big Band music, dancing, narration and a jazz soloist. Attendees will be transported back in time to a dynamic and transformative era in Lewes.

To make this concert a truly immersive experience, organizers are calling on the local community for personal stories and photos of Lewes from the 1920s, ‘30s and ‘40s. Photos and family memorabilia such as programs, newspaper clippings or artifacts from the period would be accepted, or organizers will provide a professional artifact photographer to document the items. Organizers are particularly interested in materials that provide an accurate account of Lewes during that time to help paint a vivid picture of the social landscape that gave rise to the iconic music of that era.

Some photos and stories could be included in a commemorative booklet that will be distributed at the concert.

Digital submissions are preferred in high-resolution JPG or PNG format. Accompanying text should include a brief description of the photo, approximate date taken and photographer’s name, if known, and the name of the person submitting.
To submit images and information by the Sunday, March 1 deadline, email Coastalcarol226@gmail.com with Lewes250 Photo in the subject line, or mail to Coastal Concerts, P.O. Box 685, Lewes, DE 19958.
