Foundation recognizes Beebe RN for excellence in nursing

January 13, 2026

Jennifer Murray, RN, a nurse on Beebe Healthcare’s fifth-floor unit, was recently named as the winner of a DAISY Award. From the perspective of patients and families, the best nurses are sometimes those who take the time to connect on a personal level, providing clinical care as well as compassion and empathy in their interactions.

“My father was recently in the hospital receiving treatment for colitis. Jennifer noticed he was wearing a local 5K shirt and engaged him in conversation about local running events, so they immediately hit it off,” said the patient’s family member who nominated Murray for the award. “My father praised her for being so caring and thoughtful, and said he was so thankful Jennifer was his nurse. It was comforting to know he was in such good hands when we could not be there.”

Murray’s spirit of nursing exemplifies what the DAISY Award is all about. The DAISY Foundation, and its award, was started by a family that had lost a loved one but experienced incredible kindness and compassion from their nursing staff. They wanted to praise nurses who go above and beyond the call of duty and make a profound difference in the lives of their patients.

Today, DAISY Awards are presented at hospitals across the United States, including Beebe. As a winner of this special award, Murray received a certificate and a hand-carved Healer’s Touch sculpture, inscribed with the words, “In deep appreciation of all you do, who you are, and the incredibly meaningful difference you make in the lives of so many people.”

Nurses can be nominated for DAISY Awards by their colleagues, their patients, and patients’ family members. Nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis and can be submitted online at beebehealthcare.org/forms/daisy-award.
