Local couple celebrates 55th anniversary at sea

Gene and Eileen Shellenberger of Rehoboth Beach celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary aboard the Vision of the Seas out of Baltimore, Md., sailing to Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas.

This was their first eight-day Christmas cruise. The ship was beautifully decorated for the holidays, and all the entertainment was geared toward the Christmas season.

Gene works part time in the electrical department at Home Depot. Eileen is retired from Beebe Healthcare, where she worked as a phone operator.

Their next cruise, to visit Alaska, is planned for 2027.
