14th RD Democratic Committee elects new officers
The 14th Representative District Democratic Committee recently elected three new officers to serve until the 2028 presidential election. The committee, an affiliate of the Democratic Party representing residents of Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach and southern Lewes, works to elect Democratic candidates in the 14th District and across Delaware.
Mary Boggi has been elected as the new chair, taking over from Acting Chair Dick Byrne. With more than a dozen years of Democratic activism, Boggi most recently served as chair of the group’s fundraising committee and gala. Boggi is also director of public relations and communications for the Sussex Preservation Coalition.
Tim Buchholz, who previously served as chair of the Loudoun County, Va. Democratic Committee, was elected treasurer of the 14th RD Committee, where he has served on the get-out-the-vote and bylaws committees.
Virginia Roach Yukins was elected secretary of the 14th RD Committee. A former dean of the graduate schools of education at Fordham University and Bank Street College of Education, she brings to the position her experience as a teacher, policy advocate, nonprofit leader and university administrator. Since moving to the area in 2021, she has also become secretary of the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club.
The committee also elected two new members. Gail Atchison is a therapist, veteran and ordained minister with the Metropolitan Community Church. Lorrie Thier, a community activist and volunteer at several nonprofits, recently managed the campaign of her husband, Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Craig Thier.
All registered Democrats are welcome to participate in 14th RD meetings, which take place the second Monday of each month. To learn more, email de14rddems@gmail.com.
