Delaware Watercolor Society show to open Feb. 1 in Ocean City

January 29, 2026

A juried exhibition of artwork by Delaware Watercolor Society members will open Sunday, Feb. 1, at  the Art League of Ocean City, Md.

Founded in 2004, the society has more than 75 members from the Mid-Atlantic region who have an interest in water media, including gouache and acrylic.

All are welcome to attend an artists reception from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, at the art league gallery, 502 94th St., Ocean City.

The juror and awards judge for this exhibition, Ellen Elmes, is noted for her unique, collage-style paintings that combine symbolic imagery and naturalism. Of the 20 artists and 31 paintings selected, Elmes said she was impressed by the range of content and expressive quality depicted in the artwork. She used her broad experience and knowledge to provide valuable feedback to each artist who entered the exhibition.

“We are very fortunate to have had a juror who values and encourages the individual creative process. We are equally grateful to the Art League of Ocean City for inviting us to display our work in its beautiful gallery,” said Brad Hastings, DWS president.
