Del-Mar-Va Council of Scouting to host jamboree April 24-26
The Del-Mar-Va Council of Scouting America will host its 2026 Council Jamboree from Friday to Sunday, April 24 to 26, at Akridge Scout Reservation near Dover.
Scouts, families and community partners will come together for the three-day outdoor event focused on youth leadership, American history and hands-on learning.
With the theme A Declaration of Adventure, the jamboree will include cub scouts, scouts, venturers, sea scouts, adult leaders and volunteers from across the region.
“This jamboree is designed to be immersive, educational and fun for every age level,” said Kevin Holcomb, event chair. “It gives scouts an opportunity to take part in hands-on activities, learn about history and service, and connect with organizations that play important roles in our communities.”
Organizers said the theme ties into the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary, with program areas exploring Delaware, Delmarva and American history from Colonial times to the present.
Planned activities include historical games and reenactments, BB gun and archery ranges, climbing and outdoor skills, fishing, technology demonstrations, crafts and teamwork challenges.
Participating partners include Delaware Military Academy, First State Military Academy, Delaware Technical Community College, Delaware Historical Society, Delaware Public Archives, First State Heritage Park, Kent County Historical Society, Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution, Marshall Steam Museum, Historic Lewes, Delaware Agricultural Museum, 1st Delaware Regiment, Camden-Wyoming Fire Company, Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police, Kent County Department of Public Safety, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, and Delaware Freedom First.
“Boys and girls grow to be strong, independent and caring people who contribute to their communities and reach their potential,” said Ray Teat, executive director and CEO of Scouting America for the Del-Mar-Va Council.
The jamboree is open to the public, with free admission for youth. To learn more, go to scoutingevent.com/081-DMVCJamboree.
