Cape Gazette readers pedal to Dalí’s doorstep

February 11, 2026

Taking a break from their six‑day cycling tour around Girona in Catalonia, Spain, Tom McPhillips and David Kirchman, shown wearing their Lewes Group cycling jerseys, are pictured outside the Salvador Dalí Theatre‑Museum in Figueres, which they had just visited. Figueres was Dalí’s birthplace and is also where he died in 1989. Dalí took over the abandoned local theater and transformed it into an immersive series of exhibition spaces featuring installations, paintings and sculptures from his private collection. He lived in the museum toward the end of his life and is buried in the crypt there.
