Timothy Patrick Murphy, Boeing retiree
Timothy Patrick Murphy, 87, of Georgetown, formerly of Aston, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at Ocean Grove Post Acute in Millsboro.
Tim was born in Chester, Pa., Jan. 29, 1939, son of the late William Patrick Murphy and the late Alberta Marie (Lockwood) Murphy. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, beginning his career in payroll and accounting before becoming a union representative at Boeing, where he proudly dedicated 40 years of service.
In his younger years, Tim enjoyed fowl hunting with his daughter. More recently, he loved spending time outdoors, boating or taking family and friends fishing. He also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles that kept his mind sharp and creating beautiful pieces of woodwork. Tim was a longtime member of the UAW and a faithful parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel/Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church before his illness.
Tim was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and consistently put the needs of others before his own. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Tim is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Janet E. (Scott) Murphy; three daughters, Michele Leach and her husband Brian of Aston, Pa., Debbie Zawada and her husband Wayne of Pike Creek, and Denise Hearn and her husband Michael of Landenberg, Pa.; a sister, Catherine Hays of Cheltenham, Pa; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 23, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 203 Edward St., Georgetown, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Glenwood Memorial Gardens, 2321 West Chester Pike, Broomall, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Tim’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org.
