Foundation raises funds to benefit local firefighter facing health challenge

The Skeeter Strong Foundation held a chicken barbecue fundraiser Feb. 28 at Sussex Amvets Post 2 in Long Neck. Proceeds were donated in support of Preston McCall, a local volunteer firefighter who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The group was able to raise $16,500 through a combination of raffle baskets, auction items, bake sale and T-shirt sales.
