Fresh off his win at the Northbeach College Day 5K in Dewey Beach the day before, Georgetown resident Enos Benbow completed a weekend sweep with his win in the 15th annual Run for JJ 5K in Rehoboth Beach July 29.

Benbow crossed the finish line in 17:30, more than a minute before second-place finisher Mike Sewell of Camden.

"The course was a little tougher than yesterday, but I definitely don't mind running it," Benbow said. "I've done this race the last few years, and I enjoy it."

Benbow's time was 43 seconds slower in the JJ race, but the competition wasn't as difficult.

"I really enjoy the competition when someone is right on me, because it forces me to push more," he said. "If I had more [competition] like that it would definitely help me to get faster. That's why sometimes I go out of state."

Benbow is planning to run in the Chicago Marathon in early October, and he uses 5Ks as a way of training. He also runs about five days a week, working on intervals and distance.

Finishing third overall in the race with a time of 18:45 was Matt Dunn of Trappe, Md., who also finished third in the YMCA 5-Miler July 22. Fourth was 15-year-old Trent Sewell in 18:53.

Lillian McCormick, 23, of Lewes, was the overall women's finisher with a time of 20:07, followed by Bridget Danner, 26, of Rehoboth Beach in 20:35 and Breanna Ullrich, 16, of Frederick, Md., in 21:22.
