October 7, 2012

Coolspring Presbyterian Church will celebrate 286 years of gathering as a congregation at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 21. The Coolspring sanctuary, built in 1854, is between Georgetown and Lewes just off Route 9 at Joseph's Road, at 28843 Log Cabin Hill Road. The cemetery dates back to 1740.

Russ McCabe, retired Delaware state archivist, will be the guest speaker for the afternoon worship service, sharing the history of the church. Recently, McCabe teamed with Kevin Fleming to create the book "Landmarks & Legacies." The theme for the 286th Homecoming will be Saints Through the Ages. The Rev. Susannah M. Tulloch is the current pastor of Coolspring Presbyterian Church as well as serving as chaplain for the Delaware Air National Guard.

The Coolspring congregation invites the community to attend worship and stay after the worship service to enjoy refreshments and fellowship in the community hall. For questions call Tulloch at 302-703-2545. The regular Sunday morning service at 9:30 a.m. will not be held Oct. 21.
