Twenty schools from Maryland and Delaware, many logging a 70-mile one way bus trip, come to the Worcester County complex in Snow Hill, Md., on Wednesdays for a six-hour track meet with 15 events.
There is downtime as student athletes sit in the infield, some in beach chairs doing homework, socializing and recovering from races. There is a food court always filled and the hot dogs are a dollar and soft pretzels big and salty, and there is plenty of candy. It is an athlete's paradise.
Cape will return to competition at Snow Hill Wednesday, Jan. 2, then compete at the N5CTA indoor track meet Saturday, Jan. 5, at Haverford College.
