BJ’s Wholesale Club, Procter & Gamble support youth group

April 30, 2009
To honor its commitment of giving back to local communities, BJ’s Wholesale Club, its members and its vendor partner Procter & Gamble donated $5,000 to the Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club.

The grant will support Power Hour, the club’s homework and tutoring program designed to raise the academic proficiency of Boys & Girls Club members ages 6 to 12.

Throughout the month of March, when BJ’s members purchased selected Procter & Gamble products, a portion of the proceeds was retained for the club.

“We are pleased to receive this grant from BJ’s Wholesale Club to help with our Power Hour program. We try to create engaging homework help centers at our clubs, and this grant will help us provide Power Hour materials for our volunteers and incentives for the kids,” said Millie Charnick, Oak Orchard Boys & Girls Club unit director.

BJ’s Wholesale Club, its members and P&G donated $5,000 grants to 19 other Boys & Girls Clubs’ Power Hour programs in various communities BJ’s serves. The recipients were chosen based on their need and proximity to a BJ’s location.
