Pat's Pizza in Lewes to host Salvation Army DDP art exhibit Sept. 22

September 14, 2014

The Salvation Army, Developmental Disabilities Program has announced an art exhibit at Pat’s Pizza in Lewes Monday, Sept. 22, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The exhibit will feature artwork from the artists of The Salvation Army Creative heARTs program. Pat’s Pizza is at 17644 Coastal Highway, Lewes.

The Salvation Army, DDP is a community program whose goal is to help people with developmental and cognitive disabilities become an integral part of their communities.

The participants of the program hold jobs in the community, volunteer with other nonprofit agencies, and participate in many community activities with the support of the DDP staff.

Pat’s Pizza has been very generous with their wall space and has let the artists showcase their art for about a year in the pizzeria. The exhibit is an opportunity for the artists to show off their talents to the local community.

They will also have cards and prints available, which were made from the original artwork the artists created.

Pat’s is offering a special during the exhibit; those who purchase a piece of artwork will receive a large cheese pizza for $6. The Pat’s Pizza logo is “Not a franchise…Just a family.” Creative heARTs artists will also be at the event to discuss their artwork.

The Creative heARTs program was made possible, in part, by grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency dedicated to nurturing and supporting the arts in Delaware, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
