On July 8, lifeguards from Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and New York competed in USLA Mid-Atlantic Regional Lifesaving Championships on Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. The event showcases the skills needed to be a lifeguard.

Guards competed in the 2K beach run, the 100-meter soft sand relay, 400-meter ocean surf swim, swimmer rescue race, landline, rescue board race, run-swim-run and the popular beach flag competition.

All squads are vying for a spot to compete at the 2015 Nautica USLA National Lifeguard Championships in Daytona Beach on Aug. 5-8.
