Jenny 'Jeanne' Capaldi, devout Catholic

Jenny "Jeanne" Capaldi, 76, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 19, 2015.

She was born in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Mary (Degnars) and Anthony Lewis Sr. She graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in 1955. Jeanne was the proud owner of many local gift shops and cafes. She was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she taught CCD for over 22 years, worked at the church festival and was a Eucharistic Minister. Jeanne enjoyed cooking and going to the Jersey Shore, but most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family.

Jeanne is survived by her two sons, Joseph M. Jr. and his wife Donna of Middletown, and Scott A. and his wife Irina of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Samantha and Maryland; her former husband, Joseph M. Sr. of Lewes; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by three siblings, Anthony Jr., Giacomo and Patricia.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The St. Jude Hospital for Children, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A viewing will be held Monday, July 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy. (at Duncan Road), Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 28, at 10 a.m., at St. Anthony of Padua, 901N. DuPont St., Wilmington. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
