Award winning Mojo Loco now a regular at Food Truck Friday at Epworth

October 22, 2015

Chef Steve Ruiz, owner of Mojo Loco, took top honors in the Food Truck Challenge at last weekend’s Delaware’s Wine and Beer Festival. The challenge benefited The Delaware Food Bank. Patrons voted for their favorite food truck vendors in entrée, dessert, and appearance categories.

Mojo Loco, known for its eclectic street food, won the entrée category. Ruiz uses a deft hand combining flavors, and often fuses Mexican and Asian influences.  Mojo Loco operates from New Castle, but Ruiz has restaurant roots in Rehoboth and has participated in all the Food Truck Friday events at Epworth.

Pumpkin Palooza is the theme for Food Truck Friday Friday, Oct. 23rd. Ruiz will bring pumpkin and butternut squash stuffed wontons served with a sweet soy dipping sauce, along with their other popular items like ahi tuna burgers, and short rib grilled cheese. Other vendors will bring dishes keeping with the pumpkin theme. Mama Mia will offer pumpkin cannoli and Big Thunder Roadside Kitchen will serve pumpkin crab bisque with a pumpkin seed garnish.

Other vendors at the event include: The Sea Hogg, Maxie’s Grill, Jakarta’s Indonesian Curbside Café, Sherri’s Crab Cakes, Hot Dogs at the Beach, Rosenfeld’s Roadside Jewish Deli, The Frozen Farmer, and A Latte’ Soul.
