Cookie Walk at Epworth UMC set Dec. 5

December 3, 2015

Epworth United Methodist Church will hold its sixth annual Cookie Walk at 9 a.m. until all gone Saturday, Dec. 5, offering a delicious opportunity for holiday entertaining and gift giving.

“Tables and tables of yummy homemade cookies will be available for you to select your favorites. We will have prepackaged cookie assortments wrapped with Christmas spirit as well as gift baskets of Fair Exchange coffee and chocolate. Selected cookies will be sold $9 per pound. Prepackaged assortments and gift baskets will be priced individually,” says Sue Sprague, event chair.

The “Heavenly Creations” cookie cookbook, a collection of over 120 divine recipes from the kitchens of the Epworth family, will again be on sale. Proceeds from the cookbook and the Cookie Walk will be used to further the ministries of the Caring Pathway whose mission is to provide care for church members and the community through a variety of outreach services.

In previous years, proceeds have been used for the upkeep of the Epworth bus which offers transportation to Sunday worship from Brandywine Senior Living with expansion to other care facilities and homebound Epworth members in the near future.

Proceeds have also been used for DVD players so shut-ins are able to watch Sunday morning service; for the Epworth Sunday Soup Kitchen; for the church’s new handicapped-accessible doors; for scholarships to the Pen-Del Annual Youth Rally and to the West Rehoboth Youth Program as well as donations to the CRC Transitional Housing Program.

“Our Cookie Walk has become such an anticipated and popular Christmas event for the beach community, my advice would be to arrive early,” says Sprague.

Epworth United Methodist Church is at 19285 Holland Glade Road, off Coastal Highway, north of Rehoboth Beach. For more information, call 302-227-7743 or go to www.eumcrb.org.
