St. Thomas More students donate Christmas gifts

December 26, 2015

The Giving Tree at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover contained wishes from four families for bicycles for their children. The student body at St. Thomas More Academy in Magnolia took up the challenge and raised enough money in class donations to purchase the four bicycles as well as helmets and other bike accessories. But the students didn’t stop there.

With a surplus of cash donations, Principal Rachael Casey and religion teacher Ashley Solecki went on a shopping spree and were able to make the spirit of Christmas a little brighter, buying some clothing and toys for two additional families.

Casey said, “The act of giving as a student community demonstrates and advances our mission of promoting Catholic values and Gospel teachings. We’ll miss, but can imagine the smiles on the children’s faces on Christmas morning. We are blessed to contribute to a parish that has such a great footprint in our own community.”
