Cape Pharmacy of Lewes is PUP sponsor

January 13, 2016

Lewes Unleashed Association volunteers are working hard to get dogs in the park as soon as possible. Great leaps are occurring daily in land preparation. The goal is to open the Lewes dog park in the Spring and has raised $130,000 of the $150,000 goal.

To make these efforts possible, Cape Pharmacy of Lewes has just announced a donation of $1,000 and was named a PUP Sponsor. This commitment comes at a critical time in fundraising and will help pay for the final costs of construction. Joli Martini and Pat Carroll, owners of Cape Pharmacy, are proud to help support the construction of a park. Cape Pharmacy believes that a dog park is another way to keep dogs healthy. Martini said, “Cape Pharmacy has many pet patients that come to the pharmacy for compound medications.”

Cape Pharmacy is the only locally owned pharmacy that does compounding medications for people and their pets and can be contacted at 302-645-0090, www.capepharmacy.com

Tom McGlone, LUA fundraiser chairperson and treasurer, said, “The enthusiastic support of Cape Pharmacy helps us close the funding gap. Our donors’ enthusiastic support helps put the area’s dogs another walk closer to running free in a safe environment and the area’s dog owners and other users of the enclosed site another walk closer to a new park."

Lewes Unleashed is a nonprofit organization of dog loving people who see the need for a dog park in Lewes. The organization's activities center on educating residents and gaining support, working with the city, raising funding and building and operating park for dogs and the community.

A dog park is a contained area where dogs are allowed off-leash with their owners so they may interact with other dogs and dog owners. Dog parks help dogs become friendly and social, reducing aggression and promote good health. Nationally, dog parks are one of the most used areas among public spaces. Dog parks also promote a sense of community among dog owners and other dog park users.
