Bayhealth Women’s Care is pleased to welcome its newest OB-GYN physician, Melisa M. Edler, MD. Based out of Milford, the practice which includes Miaohou Xu, MD, and John E. Deaver, MD, is now accepting new patients.
The practice is part of the Bayhealth Medical Group, a partnership of highly trained physicians, their clinical staff, and an administrative support team that operates practices throughout central and southern Delaware.
“We are very excited for Dr. Edler to join our team,” said Dr. Xu. “She brings valuable skills that will help us better serve our community.”
While she has worked extensively with patients who have high-risk pregnancies, Dr. Edler’s background has equipped her to provide care to women throughout all the stages of their lives. She also has a professional interest in minimally invasive surgery.
Dr. Edler received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. During her OB-GYN residency at the University of South Alabama Children and Women’s Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, she earned accolades as the Best Endocrinology Second Year Resident and won the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine Award at graduation. She received first place at Resident Research Day for her project on cervical cancer patients in the era of the HPV vaccine.
Dr. Edler is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She, her husband and her two dogs are happy to call Sussex County their new home.
