‘Rehoboth's #1 Little Person’ remembers Cheryl Blackman
Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, Browseabout Books is offering “Rehoboth's #1 Little Person,” a book about the area’s most famous leprechaun, Cheryl Blackman. Her oldest sister Barbara Rynkowski is the author.
Readers will learn about Cheryl’s amazing life and enjoy colorful pictures of her in the beautiful surroundings of Rehoboth Beach. Cheryl shared her love of life and spirit of adventure for holiday celebrations as Rehoboth’s most charismatic cheerleader. Also known as Miss Piggy because of her work as Miss Piggy's stunt double for “The Muppets Take Manhattan” movie, Cheryl proved a person does not have to be big to be a big deal.
WBOC sent her to Washington, D.C., in 2012 when she was named a local Jefferson Award winner for her charity work. Before her death from breast cancer in December 2016, Rehoboth community members surprised Cheryl with a heartfelt hometown parade.
This book will appeal to children with its rhyming story, and all those who remember Cheryl for her big smile and hugs.
The book sells for $16, and all proceeds will be donated to breast cancer research.
