Alejandro Justiniani named PTR Delaware Member of the Year
Professional Tennis Registry will present its annual awards this week during the 2012 PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes 50-plus on-court and classroom presentations for tennis teachers and coaches; a tennis trade show and tournament is being held Feb. 24-28, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, in Orlando, Fla.
Alejandro (Alex) Justiniani of Lewes was named PTR Member of the Year for the state. This award is presented to a PTR member in the United States who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.
Justiniani is the head professional and junior coordinator of Sea Colony Tennis Center, a Tennis Magazine Top 50 tennis resort in the United States and among the Top 25 tennis camps chosen by Tennis Resorts Online. He is one of only a handful of people who have earned the professional level of certification in all three PTR pathways - junior development, adult development and performance. He is also certified to teach wheelchair tennis and cardio tennis.
Justiniani started the Sea Colony Junior Tennis Academy, which has grown in three years from two students to more than 100. He has also implemented a solid 10-and-under tennis program.
Justiniani also started a charity event for Tennis Night in America that benefits The Boys & Girls Club and Special Olympics of Delaware. He aspires to continue to educate and grow tennis in the Delmarva area and develop future top junior and adult players.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 14,000 members in 117 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
