American Legion holds blessing for Army Reserve unit

Veterans and auxiliary members from American Legion Post 17 visited the the 946th Transportation Unit of the U.S. Army Reserve, Cape Henlopen Unit, for its annual Blessing of the Trucks July 11.

Each summer, the post chaplain and volunteers visit the unit to wish the outgoing troops a safe and pleasant journey as they embark on summer training.

Post Chaplain Robin Sweigart offered a formal prayer.

This year, the reserve unit was set to undergo three weeks of training at Fort Dix, N.J.

American Legion Auxiliary Unit 17 provides crackers, cookies, other assorted goodies, water, soda and ice for the trip.

Organizers extend thanks to everyone who came out to support this reserve unit in wishing all members safe travels.
