Assawoman Wildlife Area reopens for hunting, boating

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental ControlDivision of Fish & Wildlife has announced that Assawoman Wildlife Management Area near Bethany Beach in Sussex County has reopened.
All waterfowl blinds will be open for the remainder of the first split of duck season, through Wednesday, Nov. 7, though some blinds were destroyed or experienced minor damage during Hurricane Sandy. Hunter discretion is advised regarding each blind’s use, relative to their camouflaging with marsh grass. Areas with missing blinds may be used for hunting by waterfowl hunters who wish to hunt by boat.
Boat ramps are open for hunters to load and unload boats and gear. The floating dock at Mulberry Landing has been repaired and reopened.
Deer stands also are ready for Saturday’s special deer hunting day for youth and non-ambulatory disabled hunters.
