Author Gayle Roper to address Christian writers Oct. 19

Well-known Christian author Gayle Roper will be the keynote speaker at Write For a Reason, the Delmarva Christian Writers’ Fellowship Conference, set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at Crossroad Community Church, 20864 State Forest Road, Georgetown.

She will speak on Writing When Life Happens and present two workshops on Building Blocks of Fiction.

As the author of more than 50 books and recipient of multiple awards, Roper is well qualified to inspire writers. Her nonfiction title, “A Widow’s Journey,” won the 2015 Golden Scroll Award as the best nonfiction of the year.

Additional workshop presenters and topics will be Art Doakes, teacher and coach at Sussex Academy in Georgetown, on Exercise Your Right to Write: Fit Writing and Speaking; award-winning writer Michele Chynoweth, It Takes One to Know One: Characters; award-winning journalist Jan Woodard, Journal Thru Fire: Cancer Warrior; and Virginia Leedy Catley, coordinator of the speaker’s bureau for Sussex County Genealogical Society, on Genealogy Tips.
