The Rev. Jeffrey Ross, left, of St. Peter’s church was happily surprised with a serenade by bagpiper Thom Moore. SUBMITTED PHOTOSThe Rev. Jeffrey Ross, rector and pastor for St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, recently returned from a sabbatical trip in Scotland.
To welcome him home with an apt surprise, members of the men’s spiritual discussion group arranged for a bagpiper to play outside the church after Sunday services Oct. 8. Bagpipes are Scotland's national instrument and a large part of traditional Scottish culture.
Parishioners and passersby were delighted at the sight and sounds as Thom Moore, the piper, played “The Earl of Ross March” in St. Peter’s Square in downtown Lewes.
