Bits and Bytes computer firm celebrates 25th anniversary

September 21, 2015

Imagine a world where a home or local business had no computers, laptops, hand-held PDAs or tablets, and there was no internet, no email, no social media and no wireless connectivity to allow instant access to news and current events. Well, that’s pretty much what it was like in August 1990 when Bits and Bytes Inc. was started. Founders Henry Forester and Michelle Condon had the foresight to get in the IT arena when it was still in its infancy, and as the industry has grown, so have their knowledge and their company.

The changes that have occurred in the technology industry in the 25 years Bits and Bytes has been in business are mind-boggling. The average smartphone today has more power, greater speed and greater capabilities than computers available in 1990. Computers today are also far more complex, with considerably more memory and far greater capabilities.

Today, 84 percent of Americans have a computer in their home, and very few businesses operate without a daily reliance on their computers. But, as technology has progressed, so have the challenges, complications and potential problems. Because technology has become such an integral part of everyone’s life, qualified computer technicians have assumed a vital role.

Although Bits and Bytes began as a retailer of computers and computer systems, today the organization specializes in network installations and operating systems, hardware repair and specialized business application software. As a full-service computer firm, it offers assistance in every aspect of PC-related systems and software support, and has expanded technical resources to provide services to remove malware and viruses.

Also, it assists organizations with meaningful use-risk assessments for a more secure business environment. The company has a client base that covers much of Delaware, and represents a variety of businesses such as banking, medical and legal practices, real estate offices and other small business companies.

Started with only two employees, the current nine-member Bits and Bytes team comprises network engineers, programmers and telecommunications experts with over 100 years of combined experience. Bits and Bytes is proud to have been serving Delaware businesses for 25 years and looks forward to continuing to assist the community with their computer needs. Bits & Bytes Inc. is at 2953 Dyke Branch Road in Dover. For more information, call 302-674-2999 or go to bitbyteinc.net.
