Browseabout to host ‘50 Pies 50 States’ author event Aug. 14

July 28, 2023

Browseabout Books will host a book signing and discussion of Stacey Mei Yan Fong's new cookbook, “50 Pies 50 States: An Immigrant's Love Letter to the United States Through Pie,” from 3 to 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14, at Fish On in Lewes.

The author will be interviewed by Dru Tevis, SoDel Concepts corporate pastry chef, then mingle with attendees and personalize books.

Tickets are $65 and include a signed copy of “50 Pies 50 States,” a ticket for one glass of champagne, a Delaware pie sample from Tevis and a harvest board spread.

A $5 portion of each ticket price will be donated to SoDel Cares, the charitable arm of SoDel Concepts.

There's nothing quite so American as a slice of pie. That's what Stacey Mei Yan Fong learned growing up in Singapore and Hong Kong, watching movies set in the United States and dreaming about taking a road trip from coast to coast, stopping at diners along the way. After college in Savannah, Ga., and a decade as a fashion designer, she turned her passion for home baking into an ode to her chosen home, honoring the people, places and flavors that made her love this country with a pie for each state.

With recipes organized like an all-American road trip, this book is a journey through the wonders of pie for bakers of all skill levels. It’s also the story of one extraordinary woman who chose to make this place her home.

Tickets are nonrefundable, but Browseabout will hold a signed copy of “50 Pies 50 States” for 30 days after the event. To purchase, go to eventbrite.com, and for more information, go to browseaboutbooks.com.
