CAMP Rehoboth celebrates 30 years with photo series
The CAMP Rehoboth Community Center is celebrating 30 years since its founding in 1990 by Steve Elkins and his husband, Murray Archibald.
To honor its 30 years of history, a collection team narrowed down 300 photos, chosen by Archibald, to a few that could be displayed in the 30YearsofCAMP photo series. The team consisted of Steve Holt, Joyce Felton and photographer Carolyn Watson.
Archibald said there were many reasons for why they chose the photos they did. While some of it was historical, some of it was also just a gut instinct that the photos captured important moments in the lifetime of CAMP Rehoboth, he said.
“For me, looking at all of this, it’s less a history than it is a stone skipping across the surface of a pond and touching down here and there to reveal a particular moment,” Archibald said.
In the photos are bits and pieces of CAMP Rehoboth over the years that Archibald says he hopes tells a story.
Since CAMP Rehoboth can’t do a full exhibit due to the pandemic, it is posting the other photos one-by-one to social media sites. View the photos by finding CAMP Rehoboth on both Facebook and Instagram.
